*BYU 27, ASU 17: For ASU, the night started with a fumble on the opening kick and ended allowed a 77-yard game-clinching touchdown drive on BYU’s final possession. In between were four additional turnovers and shocking 16 penalties for 121 yards.
*HERM EDWARDS AND HIS COACHING STAFF FAILED IN PRE-GAME PREPARATION: The BYU crowd noise played a significant role with continual drive killing pre-snap penalties, including four false starts during one fourth-quarter possession. Also, the number of blown coverages from an experienced defense is inexcusable.
*ASU WAS SHORTHANDED: Running back Chip Trayanum missed his second straight game because of injury while starting corner Chase Lucas was injured while making a tackle in the third quarter and did not return.
*BYU MOVED TO 3+ZERO AGAINST THE PAC 12: After holding off the lowly UA in Las Vegas in Week One, the Cougars have added home wins the last two weeks over ranked Utah and ranked ASU.
*DOWN SOUTH, THE UA HIT YET ANOTHER PROGRAM LOW: The Wildcats appear headed to winless season after blowing a 13-zero lead and losing 21-19 to NAU. It was the first time since 1932 that the UA lost to NAU.
*OREGON IS THE LONE UNBEATEN PAC 12 TEAM JUST THREE WEEKS INTO THE SEASON: UCLA, 40-37 losers to Fresno State, and ASU were the other two teams unscathed before Saturday.
