A SIX PACK OF NFL DRAFT DAY TWO KNOWLEDGE

*THE CARDINALS, WITH THEIR ONE DAY TWO PICK (49TH) PASSED ON CORNER AGAIN, INSTEAD OPTING FOR AN OFT-INJURED RECEIVER: Rondale Moore (5-7, 188) was a playmaking machine at Purdue, especially during his 2018 freshman season, but he played just four and three games the last two seasons because of multiple injuries. If healthy, Moore should be a slot receiver fit in Kliff Kingsbury’s offense and he has the skills to end the Cardinals long-time return issues.
*THE CARDINALS THREE RECEIVER DRAFT OF 2019 MIGHT ALL BE OUT THE DOOR: Hakeem Butler (4th round/103 overall pick) was cut before last season. Andy Isabella (2nd/62) was given multiple chances the past two seasons prior to being a healthy scratch for multiple games down the stretch in 2020. Keesean Johnson (6th/174) also had a reduced role in 2020.
*WHILE THE CARDINALS FAILED TO SELECT A CORNER, TWO OF THEIR DIVISION RIVALS WENT WITH SPEEDY SLOT RECEIVERS: The Seahawks added Louisville’s D’wayne Eskridge of Western Michigan who excelled during Senior Bowl week … The Rams selected Tutu Atwell of Louisville who should be a perfect fit in Sean McVay’s offense.
*THE TEXANS FIRST PICK OF THE DRAFT (67TH OVERALL) MIGHT BE DESHAWN WATSON’S SUCCESSOR: Davis Mills was the nation’s top high school quarterback before an injury filled career at Stanford. This selection might confirm speculation that Watson has played his final game in Houston because of either his current legal issues or his desire to be traded before the legal issues.
*RANDOM STUFF: Eight Alabama players were among the first 38 picks – The entire Big 12 Conference did not have a player selected until 39th … The Buccaneers and quarterback guru Bruce Arians selected Kyle Trask with the final selection of the second round. One has to assume Trask is the plan to succeed Tom Brady, assuming TB12 actually retires one of these years… The Packers will have at least one Rodgers on their team in 2021 after drafting Clemson WR Amari Rodgers.
*DAY ONE LEFTOVERS: Jay Glazer reported Packers head coach Matt Lafleur did not know last year that his own team was going to select Jordan Love … Jimmy Garoppolo is apparently willing to help new teammate Trey Lance based on the incumbent 49ers starting quarterback sending a welcome text last night to his successor … Bengals head coach Zac Taylor reportedly had the deciding voice and opted for the poor choice of JaMarr Chase over Penei Sewell … Also on Thursday, the Saints tried to move ahead of the Patriots with the intention of drafting Mac Jones.
