BOTTOMLINE
NFL WEEK #1
*HEROES (TEAM): The Steelers, after not crossing midfield and trailing 10-0 at halftime, dominated the second half and, sparked by a block punt touchdown, scored 17 points in the fourth quarter to win 23-16 at Buffalo.
*HERO (PLAYER): Chandler Jones began his contract year season setting the tone with three first quarter sacks and five total with two forced fumbles in the Cardinals 38-13 physical domination of the Titans.
*HEROES (UNIT): The Chargers, with four new starting offensive linemen, allowed just a 12 percent pressure rate against the vaunted Washington defensive front. Justin Herbert completed 13 of 16 passes for 160 yards for 11 first downs and touchdown ON THIRD DOWN!
*ZEROES (TEAM): The four-point favored Packers were no shows in the 38-3 loss to the Saints at Jacksonville (Aaron Rodgers zero touchdown passes – Jameis Winston five touchdown passes).
*ZERO (PLAYER): Cowboys right tackle La’el Collins was suspended five games after reportedly missing multiple drug tests.
*ZERO (COACH): Arthur Smith’s first game as the Falcons head coach was a disaster, outplayed from start to finish, on both sides of the ball, at home, against the Eagles.

*HEROES (TEAM): Oregon dominated the line of scrimmage outrushing Ohio State 269-128 in the 35-28 win at Columbus.

*ZEROES OF THE WEEK (TEAM): Iowa State continues to come up short against Iowa, losing for a sixth straight meeting. Quarterback Brock Purdy (a Valley product) so bad he was pulled in the fourth quarter and the Cyclones finished minus four in turnover margin.

*ZERO OF THE WEEK (COACH): Florida State’s Mike Norvell (a former Arizona State offensive coordinator) watched as his team allowed a 59-yard touchdown pass with no time remaining to lose 20-17 in Tallahassee to FCS opponent Jacksonville State.
