BOTTOMLINE
*HEROES (TEAM) – NORTH CAROLINA: The Heels, favored by just 3½ points, led Marquette 53-25 at halftime in the eventual 95-63 victory.
*HERO (PLAYER) – JACOB GILYARD: The Richmond point guard orchestrated the 67-63 upset of Iowa with 24 points, six rebounds and six assists.
*HERO (COACH) – GREG MCDERMOTT: The Creighton coach has reshaped his team multiple times this season, including twice in the in the last three weeks after injuries to point guard Ryan Nembhard and Thursday night to center Ryan Kalbrenner.
*ZEROS (TEAM) – IOWA: The Hawkeyes continued to fail in the NCAA Tournament, still not reaching the Sweet 16 during the 12-season Fran McCaffrey era.
*ZERO (COACH) – JOHN CALIPARI: Kentucky has just one national championship with Calipari after one of the worst coached game his career.  Kentucky led 68-62 before being outscored 23-11 the remainder of the game in the 83-79 overtime lost to 15-seed Saint Peter’s. UK finished the season with five losses in its last nine games.
*ZEROS: The amazing number of bettors sucked into wagering on South Dakota State, the definition of a bogus team. Several Nevada Sports Books took more action on the Jackrabbits in their loss to Providence than any of the 32 teams playing on Thursday.
