PHOENIX— Head coach Jeff Hornacek is staying with the Phoenix Suns.

Chris Williams of cyclonefanatic.com reported Wednesday that Hornacek’s agent told Iowa State officials Hornacek has “no interest” in replacing Fred Hoiberg as the next Cyclones head coach.

Hornacek was believed to be the front-runner to replace Hoiberg, who left to be the Chicago Bulls head coach. Hornacek was a star with the Cyclones from 1982-1986 where he finished with 665 career assists and 1,313 career points. Hornacek’s No.14 jersey was retired in the rafters at Iowa State in 1991.

As for now, Chris Mannix of SI.com and NBC Sports Radio is reporting former Suns interim head coach, Lindsey Hunter is the leading candidate for the Iowa State job.

Hunter coached 41 games in 2013 leading the Suns to a 12-29 record. Hornacek was then hired to take over the Suns for the 2013-2014 season and is now entering his third season at the helm.
